Belonging, 股本, and Excellence

As part of 我们的 Catholic, Ignatian commitment to 社会 justice, SI fosters a 社区 of understanding, 尊重, and 包容 for students of all backgrounds. We promote 尊重 for all forms of diversity and strive to promote solidarity among all members of the school 社区 through 我们的 work in the Office for Belonging, 股本, and Excellence; the Magis High School Program; and by supporting student affinity groups.

SI的多样性, 股本, 包容, and belonging efforts are led by Assistant Principal for Community Formation and Culture Dr. 塔西亚·戴维斯(tdavis@amaryllis-esthetique.com), Director of Community Engagement and Belonging 马里尔埃尔南德斯 (mhernandez@amaryllis-esthetique.com), and Director of Culture and Belonging Eric Mingo (emingo@amaryllis-esthetique.com).

Office of Belonging, 股本, and Excellence

The Office of Belonging, 股本, and Excellence is a hub that serves all members of the St. Ignatius 社区, including faculty and staff, students, parents, and guardians. The BEE partners with all offices and departments at SI, helping to guide the 社区 on issues of 股本 and 包容, building capacity for cultural competency, and striving to build a culture where all feel accepted, 安全, 授权, 支持, 和确认. The goal of the BEE is to ensure that the children and adults in 我们的 school 社区 thrive, 不顾…, but because of who they are.

Magis High School Program

The Magis High School Program 是一个学者, 社会, and cultural support program for students historically underrepresented at St. Ignatius and institutions of higher education. In addition to the academic and counseling res我们的ces that SI already offers all students, the Magis HS Program provides supplemental programs including mentorship, preparation for college entrance, and cultural enrichment. The Magis Program exists to support St. Ignatius students who identify with at least one of the following criteria:

学生 who are first-generation college-bound (neither parent holds a bachelor’s degree from a U.S. college or university)
学生 from low-income families
学生 of color historically underrepresented in higher education

Student Affinity Groups

Affinity groups promote awareness and 尊重 for diversity and 包容 at SI. They support the intersectional identity formation of their members and provide a 安全 space for students who self-identify within each affinity group. Although members of an affinity group may share a common identity, such as gender or race, it does not mean that everyone in that group shares the same experience. 而, participants recognize that their identity has an effect on the way they move through the world, and the groups offer time and space for empowerment of the individual and of the group within the greater 社区.
